I’m in Colombia!!! Ahh! It's been a week now and things have been going really well! We are working at the Alex Rocha Youth Center in the slums of Cartagena with Alex and his family. We aren't allowed to leave the house without supervision, we can't wear jewelry or have valuables on us, and this is our first rest day so we decided to find some wifi at a coffee shop in the city Center.
Our main roles are helping teach English classes, playing baseball with the gang kids, and helping with Sunday school. The kids are so sweet. We are doing our best to honor our host family and relieve them from the work that they do. Please pray that God sends helpers this way - especially a baseball coach that could share some of the load. Alex does so much and he is struggling to balance his work, his dedication to his community and spending time with his wife and 6 kids.
I promise I will send a video update as soon as I can. I think about you all every day and am so thankful for your prayers and support. If you're interested, one of my teammates is blogging our days and posting them to YouTube. You can search for Tera Bradham.
I hope the transition to the new location went well and that the summer hasn't been too hot.
Hasta pronto (see you soon)!
