Here at Crossroad International Church we are family. And like any family, we are all different ages. What unites us is our love in joyfully worshipping our God together. That is why we have Pathfinders, because we love our kids. Whether you want to enroll your kids in one of our age related Bible classes or you would prefer to have your children in with you throughout the whole service, there are plenty of resources for you to make use of.

Our aim through Pathfinders, is to serve parents and their children. Our key verses are from Deuteronomy 6:6-7: “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

We believe that the greatest Christian ministry to our children is found within the context of the family and home –and that has shaped the foundation of our thinking in how CIC does Children’s Ministry.

Corporate Worship The children stay in the main service during times of corporate worship through music, song, the reading of Scripture and prayer. The intent is that children can be with their families and worship God together. Children are a part of this wonderful covenant community of believers and we want them to be able to share in the joy and privilege or worshipping as families and as one big family. We want kids to be able to ask about what words meant in songs, what did the person praying mean when they said something, what did that Bible reading mean? We want our children to see the authenticity of our worship.

Serving ParentsHaving the opportunity to listen to sermons and to have your full focus on listening to God’s Word is part of healthy Christian living. For tired parents who are constantly giving out to their children, we want them to be refreshed and encouraged spiritually so that they can keep on bringing up their children in reverential fear of God. We see Pathfinders as a means to help parents in fulfilling Deuteronomy 6:7, not replacing it.

Serving ChildrenThere is a weekly Bible class tailored to each age range. For the older kids, alternate weeks are spent in the main service with our prayerful desire that they continue in worshipping God through the hearing of God’s Word. We hope that this will allow great discussions at home about the sermon, what it means for them, what was difficult to understand, how it’s applied. Again, it’s Deuteronomy 6:7 in action.

Finding your way at pathfinders

Discoverers: The youngest of our pathfinders 0-4 year olds, learn the Word of God through many different creative and interactive outlets. The Scripture filled lessons are where we engage the young minds through storytelling, arts and crafts, songs and prayer. We spend time focusing on the foundation of Scripture and how, even as a child, we can walk the way Christ did. Sharing the Word of God at this young age helps young minds to discover the world with Christian morals and values.

Explorers: The 5-7 year olds are on a journey of discovery seeking to know Jesus better and finding new truths about Him. Using the Bible as our map, we’re exploring the challenges of life through fellowship and friendship, and always having fun along the way. Join us for the most important adventure of exploration ever!

Navigators: For 8-10 year olds, our Navigators are plotting a course through the whole Bible and finding Jesus everywhere! Navigators combines interactive fun learning with developing a greater awareness of the importance of God's Word. We use memory verses, games, discussion starters and share together in prayer each week to reinforce the message from the Bible. These kids are on the move.

Trailblazers: For our 11+ year olds, we focus together on delving deeper into God's Word, to work through knowing and applying God's eternal never-changing truth to their lives in an ever changing world. Our desire is that these kids grow into young men and women who are in love with Jesus, are passionate about His Word and live radical 'Trailblazing' lives for God's glory.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he [Jesus] interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:27

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17

One of the core aims of Pathfinders is to diligently teach the Bible to the children entrusted into our care. We long that our children have a genuine encounter with the living Jesus as the Holy Spirit makes alive God’s Word.

A fantastic resource that we use in teaching God’s Word is the Gospel Project. The Gospel Project works its way through the whole of Scripture systematically, from Genesis to Revelation. What is really helpful about the curriculum is the way in which every Biblical story points us to Jesus. Each and every week we are reminded of our need for Jesus, the only Saviour – the only hope for our children to be saved from a lost eternity.

You can find more information about the Gospel Project at  https://www.gospelproject.com/kids/ We combine each week’s lesson with information to parents, either through hand-outs or parental WhatsApp groups (kids age related), so that talking about the Bible carries on into the week. We want to see Deuteronomy 6:7 lived and breathed in each home.

Our Teachers

We love our teachers and assistants and are so thankful to God for them. One of the reasons why we have Pathfinders when we do is in recognition of our teachers’ and assistants spiritual needs - with many of our teachers being parents too.

All of our teachers are members of CIC, holding to our Statement of Faith and to the accountability that we have embedded within membership. Each teacher and assistant is also required to complete a Children’s Ministry Screening Questionnaire.

CIC also has its own Child Protection Policy, which can be found here.

We take seriously the health, safety and security of the children within our care. That's why Pathfinders uses CheckIns to bring you the best check-in experience and to allow us to partner with you to keep your children safe.
